It was the first night of Bingo. Amanda was sitting at the bar catching up with a friend. Brad was having a drink with Art. Amanda’s friend had to leave and what’s a gal to do but start up a conversation with the guys sitting next to her? We’d like to say the rest is history, but…
Amanda’s friend Jayne was visiting and the group decided to head over to the scotch bar. One conversation lead to another and Brad was telling Amanda she just wasn’t the right girl for him. Say what? She wasn’t looking to date him! The next morning Brad texted Art, “I think Amanda’s mad at me.” Art responded with, “ya think?”
Back to the scene of the crime, Brad and Amanda had been hanging out on a near daily basis. So after a smooth scotch (Brad) and a “dusty” martini (Amanda), Brad took Amanda to the side and asked if she wanted to “finally make this thing official.” It’s more romantic than it sounds! And as Sam turned to Art and Jamie to tell them the exciting news, the guys responded with, “well yeah, weren’t they already?”
After a solid year of searching and several houses that fell through, we finally found our home. Small, but room for expansion – with a completely unfinished half upstairs that we are itching to get to. We have a great yard for the dogs to run around in and soon will hold a vegetable garden!
We were trying to eat healthy; and Amanda just quit her second job, so also working on saving money. And then Brad suggests we “go out to a fancy dinner” because we hadn’t done that in a while. (It seems that the day after Valentine’s didn’t count; Brad was wearing jeans. His words, not hers.) We started off with dinner at Chianti Il Ristorante and both had amazing meals. Next we headed over to 9 Maple to have a drink and a few friends met us out. Apparently Brad went to the bathroom several times through the night. (Think he was nervous?) After the last bathroom trip, he came back to get on one knee and ask Amanda to marry him. Looks like she said yes!
